Eyelid Coloboma

It’s an extremely rare defect or congenital malformation of the edge of the eyelids that arises in the development of embryogenesis. It is characterized by the triangular notch of the palpebral margin with the absence of eyelashes and gland.

They are more frequent in the upper eyelid, generally unilateral and located on the nasal side.

Its treatment is based on the use of ophthalmic lubricants to avoid injuries, keep the cornea healthy and the patient asymptomatic, while waiting for the aesthetic surgical procedure performed by an oculoplastic ophthalmologist.
